Overclocking On H97 With MSI

MSI has proven that Devil's Canyon CPUs can overclock on H97, H87, and B85 chipset motherboards. This means that the Z97 chipset is no longer required for overclocking, which may be especially appealing to those on a budget.

The screenshot below depicts a Pentium G3258 in an MSI H97 Guard-Pro motherboard being overclocked from 3.2 GHz to approximately 4.5 GHz.

What do you think about this, and would you rather get a non-Zx7 motherboard, if it can still overclock?

Interesting, do you have a source to verify this?

Also, does this apply to all devils canyon cpus or just the Pentium?

oooh, thats promising. I hope my pentium will do atleast that :D.
Its interesting about the motherboards as well, I wonder if Intel are happy...

I really doubt it. First ASUS gets Devils Canyon working on Z87, now MSI gets it working on H and B chipsets... Intel will not be happy

Suddenly that cheap unlocked pentium seems like it would be a laugh for some overclocking fun, especially on one of these cheaper boards... hmmm.
