My Find of the Day
Well after people constantly wanting my xfire in order to organise cs matches, and after me continually telling them its horrible software, i have found the perfect solution.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/gfire/
gfire is a plugin for gaim that allows you to talk over the xfire protocol. So I have the convenience of speaking to naive fools who use xfire, but none of the horrid software. It even tells you if people are playing a game like xfire, the only thing it lacks is ingame support, but meh who cares.
So those of you who have dismissed xfire like me, consider this plugin, it makes life a lot easier. I've already converted Kemp

steam friends for chatting ingame, and xfire is horrible software, theres no denying it.
but since people insist on using this protocol, this plugin is a lifesaver

It's unwieldy, ugly, crashes stuff, has a horrible UI (yes I know you can skin it) and generally offends me
