CRT problem.

For the longest time, there has been a bit of a problem with a samsung monitor which happens to be next to the kitchen, every so often there are static sort of lines on the right side of the monitor. Could this be a problem of say power distribution within the area that would be causing said problem?

Yes most likely. I would say it would probably be caused by an appliance in your kitchen.

Sounds like it to me, I am assuming that the monitor uses regular old VGA?

Pretty much. The first course of action is problably a different surge protector. Never used to have the problem when I first got it.

Could be a fan or other motor on the same breaker or next to it.

The biggest power drain in your kitchen area is going to be from your refridgerator, check to see if it happens when the fridge's compressor kicks on.

Oh yeah, and electric propane or oil igniters can cause interference too.

Anything with a big magnet could be causing it too.. Totally ruined an old CRT when I left a big sub sitting new to it. Not sure if anything in a kitched would give off a magnetic charge sometimes and not others.. Washing machine when in use perhaps?
