Memorable PC games

QuietOne

always shouting
Mine was the original Alone in the Dark. That is pure survival horror :p

I remember playing it on my first PC which was 486 sx25 with 4mb of RAM.

What was your memorable PC game?

Command and Conquer Generals!

Borrowed it of a friend of mine the day i bought my first laptop/ computer (around 7 years ago). It ran it at around 18 FPS and slowed down to a crawl if the battle (or laptop) heated up. I don't know how i was able to game on that thing looking back.

Only replaced the old girl last year when my university gave me a bursary.

total annihilation the best strategy game iv every played (tho im bias as i love big robots)

legacy of kain! omni! (not great games not great story's but great experiences)

there was a precursor to worms on some tape computer my mate had i think it was called tanks? that was ace!

neverwinter nights 2........tho it had a horrible bug and i lost my save 4/5 threw the game never completed it :(

I guess they didn't have Anti-Aliasing back then.

Star Wars Battlefront II on the PS2. That really got me into fps games. I seem to have remembered it with better graphics than I see now.

Command and Conquer Generals!
Yes! That and the Expansion Zero Hour occupied a lot of hours via LAN parties in the computer labs in college. We had a long to-and-fro with the sysadmin, but in the end he couldn't stop us using running portable versions off USB hard drives. :D

The 1st Left 4 Dead was another college favourite.

Going waaay waaay back however:

Sunk probably 1000's of hours into this back in the mid to late 90's. I remember the system requirements calling for a CPU clocked at 133MHz, but it ran fairly well on the 100MHz Pentium I was using at the time. ^_^

This actually still has a reasonable community playing it too. Very dated now, I fired it up last year and found it hard to sit through more than a few hours on it. Still... The Memories!!

Putt Putt: Saves the Zoo.

Anyone? :p

More serious games were probably Call of Duty 2 or GTA San Andreas.

My first PC game was Total Annihilation Kingdoms. Now thinking back.. I never increased the settings because i was so young i did not know i could have. Bummer:p

For me the early memorable PC games are Hexen, the original Quake and Lemmings. The more modern ones are Crysis, Crysis warhead, the Silent Hill series and Oblivion.

Hexen is my most memorable and also the first PC game I ever played.

I was blown away by the graphics at the time

The Longest Journey - was always a great game for me, have played through it a few times, but never stuck with it long enough to complete it....I really should though.
If you like the Broken Sword feel of games, this should be good for you too.....

....random funny bits and light language

I'm gonna show my age here a bit but ,
For me it was the original Duke Nukem , I used to love that game.
Another one was Doom .
I used to play both of those games for hours after work .

This was also my first game, I thought it was broken sword but was mistaken, I think I was 8 when I first played DN3D, My friend also had a a disc that had over a thousand player made levels on it, I thought it was the most amazing thing I ever saw at that age ^_^

Has to be Goldeneye on the N64 for me. That game was epic. The hours I spent replaying that and then the multiplayer! Oh the multiplayer...

3 other games I remember playing was I was like eight.

Manic Miner
Boulder Dash
Red Moon (N, E, S, W. text adventure game ...)

The were on my Dads Amstrad, and we've been trying to remember the name of the PC...
Even though the manic miner and boulder dash have been redone over the years, the classic originals are better.

Oh man this has brought back many memories!
Vrooom - Amiga
Rainbow Island - Vic20, C64 & Amiga
Lemmings & Tribes - Amiga
Zool - Amiga
