Hello!

I need to find a new monitor for my dads computer as hes getting old! spending more and more time on his computer, i will shortly have to upgrade no doubt!
But i have been looking and i found some decent priced monitors on scan for about the £100 but when it comes to about the £150-£170 Budget that i've become a bit stuck so i was wondering if any one could find a realy nice monitor for about that price range any where between £100 to £170 the more future proof and features it has the better!

Thank you
Luke

I can personally recommend this.

LG 23EA63V 23-inch, IPS 1080p monitor £117

My house-mate is using it in his current build and it is a beauty!

Very high quality with excellent colour, can only fault the stand but it isn't any worse than most monitors.

There is also the Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM for £150

Same panel as the LG but has a better stand and has a few usb ports on it

For my money i'd get the LG, i wouldn't use the usb and the monitor itself looks better than the Dell in my opinion. The Dell does have one nice stand though.

+1 to the LG.

I'd go for something IPS at any rate, and pretty much all of the IPS panels themselves are made by LG, meaning regardless of whether you buy LG, Iiyama, Dell etc, you're effectively just buying the same thing with a different stand. Therefore, go with whichever one of those you can find cheapest really, or if you like the design of one over another and think it justifies the price, then go for that!

Personally, I would not want an LG. I've worked with a few and as wrenaudrey has said, the stands are pretty terrible. I was constantly afraid that I was going to break them even.

And the bezel is not as thin as it seems in the image. LG is notorious for PhotoShopping their images to make the bezels look thinner.

gotta love the stands that dell uses. i have the more expensive u2412m but i think they use the same stand design on most of ther screens, the extra adjustability that it gives makes it worth the money,

LG monitors always feel tacky IMO, bad adjustment levels (stand, not picture) and no stability.

I have the Dell pictured above and it's solid, well adjustable and a great picture.

Important to note that in comparison the Dell has a built-in USB hub and a DisplayPort port where as the LG has a HDMI port.

From personal experience, I'd say go for the Dell. I believe the Dell's build quality is better and for the price difference I think the extra features are worth it.

Thank you so much every one, hes not to bothered about the stand as he has a solid desk, it wont be moved about any where so ill get the LG!

I saw that LG and though oooh thats gonna look good in triples but then oh :( false bezel... fail. That would irritate me so much i'd just buy the Dell even if I only wanted one. But I do have problems.
