Please SuB can we have some more SuB?

Please post and tell us why you think we need a like post button.....?

Maybe just maybe Ill pay sub the extortionate price of a packet of hob knobs to get it done!

I think one of the things that the "like button"(or a cool button, thumbs up....whatever please you guys) would be useful to help identify the forum users that have more "credibility" on stuff like helping others, give a constructive opinion of something....etc!!

*ahem* member of the month *ahem*

Very good point. Sometimes no matter how much we try to help, it is a bit easier knowing who has given more appropriate advice over time, and the thanks or thumbs up allows us to let people know at a glance which bits were helpful. Thus we can read all of the advice, but those with no experience can tell who might have a bit more experience in the issue at hand.

that could also discredit new users though...

/edit
the member of the month thing could be good for more help on the forums though, i find myself quite often in situations where i consider to help someone out but then decide to drop it because i'm not in the mood to write an essay. pointless reposts should be punished though, the whole like thing shouldn't occupy too much of a high status.

It was here before and I actually liked having it. As a new member it was hugely encouraging to see the bigger names like my post for the advice I gave. It doesn't have to be a tally count where people can see how many likes people have in totality, like Reddit, just a way to show that people appreciate someone's writing.

It certainly has my vote.

I see what you did there.. crowd sourcing to make me do things now.. interesting tactic young grasshopper...

There are usually a lot of "Likes" for witty/funny comments so it'll make some members appear more helpful when really all they've done is crack a few jokes. This would present the problem of users taking any and all advice from users who have a whole bunch of likes when in reality they haven't really helped that much.

This obviously doesn't mean that these users won't be helpful, it would just make it seem that their advice is more relevant than the advice given by someone with just a quarter of their rep points. Most of us won't need to look at someones rep points to garner how useful their advice is, so I guess it doesn't matter if we do/do not have a rep system.

Objectively I can see how it would be useful.

Far from it - I just wanted to hear why people want it and the "please SuB can we have some more SuB" needed to be used while I remembered it :D

so....what can we do to help you make (if necessary) those software updates more easy to do!! :)

I guess people want a like button cause they are mostly used to one being on Youtube, that being said though if you had a like button that didn't tally anything but was just there for someone to say YEP! I like that rather that typing I like that then it could be a good thing

Whatever you guys decide, just make sure Alpenwasser gets 12 of them. He writes regular helpful essays in the liquid cooling forum. :)
