Hey there,
Recently I finished building my new rig the Red Racer (name clarification later).
Let's start with the parts I've chosen:
After a long wait of 1 week, every part has arrived. Here is me unboxing them:
Freshly cleaned room to avoid as much dust as possible
Alright let's get going! First step: barebone test to discover any faulty parts.
CPU in place.
Stock CPU cooler for now. Might buy an aftermarket one some time in the near future.
I had a big fat grin on my face when I unboxed this beauty
Booted up the first time and everything seems to run fine!
RAM test.
I just love how this case looks
*eyegasm* You might notice why I called it the Red "Racer". I think the front kinda looks like a Porsche or Ferrari.
Dat feel.
Stripped down case with included 200mm fan (which I think is freaking awesome of Aerocool to include such a big fan)
My two other 200mm fans and the SSD
Aerocool put 3 motherboard standoffs with it and I thought I didn't have enough. So I ventured out to buy some, but my local hardware store didn't have any and it was too late to go to my local computer shop.
I asked a friend if he had any old pc I can get some standoffs from. Quite frankly, he had 2!
At this point my freshly cleaned room has become a mess again
I feel like it's the 90s all over again
Smallest CPU cooler ever!
The first pc just had some cheap plastic clips for standoffs and the second one had too long standoffs...
Quite frustrated I went to sleep. On the next morning I went to my local computer shop and bought some standoffs for a buck.
After I put all in and tried to fit the motherboard I realized that I didn't need any standoffs. Great!! Stress for nothing and time and fuel wasted...
Anyways, after my historic discovery I mounted the motherboard into the case.
Here is my old build for reference
And my new build
Quite an upgrade I'd say!
Old and new build side by side
First boot up with the build assembled in the case
Ooooh, shiny!
Most ghetto windows install ever with power coming from the old pc and the SATA cable going into the new pc
After installation and before graphics driver installation
After graphics driver installation (dunno why I didn't take a screenshot at this point)
My old warrior. Farewell good friend! You've served well.
Everything's running fine!
Unigine Valley old vs. new
Some glamour shots
I might buy a fan controller since I'm not quite happy how the motherboard handles the fans. I'm looking at the Bitfenix Recon.
If you want a higher res pic of something just ask. I cropped everything down to 720p to save bandwith.
I hope you like it
Regards,
Pp
