EDIT: 21/10/2013
Thanks to Bitfenix for the LED strips and orange coloured cables
Mick from Mayhems has kindly provided me 2 large bottles of Orange fluid for the w/c.
A big thank you goes to Pascal at Aquatuning for sorting me out a great deal on the case. Well happy with it now
:)
Thanks to Noise blocker for the support in the way of 20 x fans for my build

So firstly I got this PSU

And took the bugger apart, it wasnt easy to get into the unit, I needed pliers as some of the screws were buggers! Mind you, your not meant to take them apart.

I removed the Antec logo plate from the PSU, I intend to glue this back on once finished.

Next job was to primer the PSU frame... but first I celotaped the rear part of the PSU frame as that has the connection info printed on it, I wanted to keep that info.

Finally primer time

Just need to decide what do do with the cables now on the PSU.

I went to see RJKONEILL at OCUK. We discussed my build and I asked him for his expertise on his radiator knowledge.

I left with this.

1388688_10153349031065533_783356293_n_zps4e1d4bea.jpg

Its a silver Aluminum framed AX480 rad from XSPC with a copper radiator.
My intention is to paint the frame orange, like my test rad, this frame actually is removable from the rad fins centre, so makes it much easier to paint too.

Thanks again RJK for the advise :)

Rad striped down.

First layer of primer is on and drying now.

Also they only had 1 x AX480 left. I bought the last one, the AX360 they have loads of stock still :)

well the ends of the rad frame have been sprayed.

Orange peel? I really dont know why people bother painting stuff and then rush it. Take that little bit longer and it could have looked lush.

FYI before you go nuts paint and colours is my mastermind subject so this is just a pet hate of mine.

where is the painting peeling? The quad rad is laquered and protected. Go troll elsewhere...

I don't claim to be an expert at painting, it's not 100% paint perfect, but it is never going to be, spraying by hand.

I'm happy and it looks good, that is the important thing.

Orange peel mate. You can see its not smooth. Also about the trolling bit mind your tongue, you post on a forums namely MY one and Ill say if I do or dont like something.

Spraying by hand wont be perfect thats why you have to spend longer on the prep and finish. I know all too well because I used to build custom rigs for a living.

If you have the time you can get flawless results.

The paint doesn't need to be micro-smooth, I really don't care about that. I have published this on a number of forums and you are the first person to pick fault with it, no need for such arrogance to be honest, in your last replpy to me.

I stand by my comments, I think you are trolling. Like it or lump it, it's my opinion!

Play nice, and people will play nicely back with you.

The Guv is not trolling, he knows what he is talking about. He did not say the paint was peeling, he said orange peel which refers to the texture of your paint job. It resembles the peel of an orange.

The colours look nice, but you have to respect the guvnor and take his critiscm as a constructive one, I don't think he is trolling, he is just pointing out what could be improved. I will be following this thread for sure.

TBH mate I dont care how many forums youve posted it on, Ive just said theres a lot of orange peel on that rad and I personally wish people would spend more time on prep and finish. If a jobs worth doing.... do it right.

Stuff like that just stands out to me. Below video was done by hand but with plenty of effort into making it look right. The clear on that is like a mirror.

Your attitude is just a bit off because youve found someone that knows paint and has pointed out its not perfect. Please wind your nech in though because people here are already reporting your posts as offensive.

ok, well I miss understood his original comment, I though he meant the paint was "peeling" and when I questioned that he decided to throw his "internet-weight" about which was not needed in my opinion.

I understand what he means by peel now, but still no excuse for this "you post on a forums namely MY one and Ill say if I do or dont like something." There are better ways to construct an debate, than point out your stature. It's the internet, not a Russian government.

Oh well time to move along, and talk about my build log, not any individuals.

Was that done with a rattle can or gun?

Done with a rattle can. Primer, orange paint and laquer, all just using a rattle/spray can.

You didnt use etch primer for the alu?

Should have been etch first then normal primer

I was asking how Tom painted the green rad mate.

Yeah just normal cans on that rad dude, was just a learning thing so I could do smaller bits at home and not have to go to the body shop to paint everything.

I never expected perfect results, this is the first time I have ever painted anything, I'm happy with the results so far. Don't feel it's neccessary to have any better results than I have. I'm happy with how it turned out.

Just enjoying doing the project, that is enough for me.
