Car photos/discussion thread

born in a.....
To mark the death of my terrible, terrible car (an MG ZR, now minus a head gasket) I thought I'd start a car thread where we can post photos of cars we like/own. I'm oping I am not the only petrol head on here

I'd thought I'd kick it off with one of my fave cars you can buy today A Toyota GT86, slightly modified ofcourse ;) :

3 minis in the family now,
austin mini is getting restored so it has no panels on it
rover mini is my brothers and has a carbon roof, pretty nice
mini cooper s, nice car and is very loud
there is also an estate bmw 3 series but it may be getting replaced with a range rover sport for winter
and last but not least is the trusty vauxhall vectra. Also 2 vintage cars that have been in the family for goodness know how long but are at my grandparents garage. Humber hawk and austin something or other. For my first car i will probably get a 51 plate or 52 plate mini cooper.

I'd love an old mini but they're so expensive :l. Insurance wise they're a bit of a pain unless I can get the basic city one, which is a task in itself because rust.

Have a look on gumtree and ebay, the more you pay the less rust you have to pay to fix. The one getting restored was £1000 and ran fine but it had pretty bad rust and was full of filler. So thats why he is replacing every single part of it, everyday there is a courier with some sort of pressure gauge or valve of some sort. He is getting the new shell next year and it will be really expensive, i had a look and they cost something around the price of a new mini cooper. An old mini is more of a toy than a tool.

right i know this is about cars, but i don't have one at the moment. i do however have an Yamaha RX100, this aint my one but its from the same year and the same colour (for now). i would of posted a pic of mine but its not all together at the mo, as she is going to be re painted

Nice bike! My neighbour had one like that and it was basically alarm clock for six months D:.

Yeah I know, that is the way with anything old sadly and as much as I would like an older car I need one that I can rely on at the moment as I have to do quite a bit of driving as part of work/social aspects.

My wee starlet :D

I love starlets :D, been dreaming of importing one from japan for some time now, sadly the insurance is quite alot (around £4k) and they cost quite alot to buy now as well.

and mmm that bodykit. I wish I could own one...

There is not allot of them left in Japan in good condition the majority are long gone!

I would defo reccomend one but they are getting on in years now and allot have had the tits ragged off them so clean examples can be hard got anywhere in the world!Have a look at toyotagtturbo.com and ukstarletowners.com always starlets for sale :)

Like this little gem a MK1 GT Turbo very good spec just MOT'd etc cracking little car for the money http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?105849-Mk1-EP82-GT-for-sale

I always thought insurance was allot better in the UK for imports and the like if you dont mind my asking what age are you?

18, I only had my car for 6 months until the gasket failed recently. The problem is some all the insurers I've tried (I rang them up because at one point I was going to buy a glanza V for ~£1.5k) have quoted me around £4-6k for insurance for a stock glanza.Any sorts of mods (even stereos, I'm not joking) puts it up by alot. I'm sure it'll be the same for GT Turbos as well :l

Ahh well you are quite young for a realistic quote on an imported japanese turbocharged car which is unfortunate (we all know insurance companies are nothing but white collar thieves anyway!) and yes I would imagine it would be a similar story for a GT however on the plus side they may have gone down in price in a few years and your money will go further when you go to buy one :)

Unfortunate luck with the gasket mate I know mechanical bills can be expensive especially the labour!I honestly dont know how people can afford to pay mechanics with the way things are at the minute! What car where you driving mate?

Hopefully you be back on the road soon!

Some of my favorite pics in my collection

I think thats enough for now :p

Haha yeah it'll be many years until I get a car that I really want. It was an MG ZR. I think I'll cut my losses and sell it because its done quite a few miles and yeah, the insurance was a bit steep for a rebadged Rover.

I'm not going to link my dream car but it would be a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR running 800+ BHP. Anyway... Realism, here are the cars I've owned/own.

I'm not the best at taking pictures

My first car back in 2008, Fiat Punto 1.9 Turbo Diesel 213BHP 274 ft-lb.

After that was wrote off around the summer of 2011 off I got a 1999 Audi S3 which is by far the best of the 3 cars I've had. Sold it last week, kept it stock the whole time I had it.
