Your chance to call me an idiot!

Keep inside of forum regs obviously!

Anywayz, for the past week or so I`ve been shuffling some pcs around, putting one together for my nephew; solving a fragged K7 problem; installing an AMDx2 to get a feel of it; trying out RAID0; mixing and matching about 12 HDs within maybe 4 or 5 pcs; switching bad memory for good, upgrading some pcs where possible -- generally spreading the wealth amoungst the peoples within the family to take best advantage of things as I usually do.

So there`s the history, a handful of things left to do, but in essense that`s it.

This weekend I finished friday evening on somewhat of a bonus, the spare memory I had turned out better than the ones I had in the x2 pc, so I put it in and oc`d it to 2270 (with a stock fan it`s hitting 55 on load, fair enough) - but in all the pc was up and running, I`d stuck some games on it, utils all right in place -- even the K7 with the Athlon2600Barton was running well with a slight oc, funnily enough using the memory that seemed not to work well in the other mobo - in anycase the 2 pcs that I was leaving myself with were doing great and I decided to take them from the top of the desk and install them beneath and connect up all the media stuffz. TV, audios, satelite and so on, for recording and playback.

1 pc setup under the desk, K7 working well, with the addition of a monitor aquired from my sister (needs to warm up to get a good picture coz the crt is on it`s way out - but I leave them on all the time, so it`ll be ok). All cables sorted out, cleaned around the unit - fine.

Saturday, around lunchtime, I move the x2 pc - install all the cabling, tidy up around it (wow my desk back), ~seems~ to be working ok.

I`ll check the sound out, that`s meant to run from the k7 to the x2 via sblive drive IR thingy --- nothing.

I check the sblive settings - I can`t even select auxiliary2 as an input.. now that`s odd.

I seem to remember a past case of this where I had to replace the new drivers with ones I originally had with the card, so I did... and err windo$e freaked out. Uninstall them... O o my taskbars gone >.< (by this time it`s Saturday evening) and I`m banging my head against the pc trying to figure how to get it back. I can get it back by unlocking the bar, put the lock back on and it vanishes again. U can`t drag it, u can`t undock it. EFF-it I`ll make windo$e fix it. Aint no bid deal, I`ll stick the windo$e cd in and run it as an upgrade...

freakin cd stalls on "Installing Devices" - EFF-me I`ve had this problem b4, and it was the G15.. ok I`ll try again without it.. didn`t work. Took everything out of the pc, deleted all the oem drivers.. didn`t work. Some device is being detected (that doesn`t exist cos the mobo is bare and bios stuff is off) - EFF-ing windo$e - right..

I`m using the laptop to search for infos in the meantime.

No big deal I`ll do a quick install, copy all my gear and do a clean install.. (it`s late Saturday night).. right all done (for some reason u can install windo$e passed the "Installing Devices", but if u upgrade it won`t work - only Gill Bates knows why - stoopid franchizing OS!)LDKKK!!!! - All backed up, I`ll fresh install in the morning.

Mid morning, to late afternoon, whilst watching Cardiff win again, I bust in a fresh OS, ... freaking exclaimation marks on my devices. Ok stay calm. Installing some drivers in turn can sort this out.. ok done.. all but the sound card. Still exclaims and windo$e thinks it`s a legacy EMU card only..!!!£"31!!!

(remembers during the previous day I was moving the card around slots to see if the lack of components of the card was down to a conflict)

Ok fair comment, stick the card in the first slot that had when it was supposedly working friday. Fine drivers in and other stuff seems to be flowing better...

Erm.. still no Auxiliary2 input.. WTFFFF!! (to put it lightly)

Ok I`m looking at the description of the SBLive card according to windo$e - it now thinks it`s a E200 - which is blatenty wrong. (should be E000).. ok I know to read the label on the back of the card and seek correct drivers from Creative. SB0060 - stick it in, download some stuff via laptop onto flashdrive as the x2 pc has not internet atm coz I`ve moved it.

Meanwhile I`m reading some troubleshooting text on the knowledgebase.. one of them happens to be "blah blah Auxiliary2 not available" .. the techy response is "blah blah check the Drive panel is powered..." - "LOL" I think, standard response from a techy..

I glance down to my open pc case... F - F - MF - F - MF !!!111!!!!2!!

(I can see the shinny pins looking back at me and laughing)

I`ve wasted almost 2 days, let`s say the weekend, just because I didn`t stick the STOOPID power connector on the SBLive Drive panel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just can`t believe it, practically a weekend wasted.

Abuse as much as u like (within the rules)...

It`s taken me about 35 hours to move a pc about 3 foot!!

On a slight upside, things are ok atm, the Giants are getting spanked and the Skins won!

Your an idiot

Yeah I kinda skimmed it too - You an idiot, I guess.... :wavey:

Tbh, I've had a few problems with some installs. Can always be the simplest of problems, but theres so many places to go wrong it's just a big case of trial and error to find the problem....

Yes, the giants are getting spanked (or were rather) as they are making a helluva comeback right now.

GOOOOO SEAHAWKS!
