Hey guys, Simon here with a kind of new build to show of. As some of you may know I recently updated my main rig (find link @ bottom of my signature) and I was thinking about something I could do with the parts I replaced the upgrades with. So here you have it, the leftovers from my main rig, a new home backup server with 2TB of storage, all optical hdd's.

All the parts is older parts I've bin using in my main rig except the NZXT 210 atx case which is a very good value case and with fairly good cable management options. Note that the PSU is not modular. just look at that braided sausage at the bottom there, lol.

Specs:
- MSI B75MA-P45 motherboard
- Intel Core i5 3450
- Kingston HyperX Genesis Blue ram 8GB 1600MHz
- Seagate 1TB drive
- 2x old laptop 2.5" harddrives with 500gb each.
- Silver Power SS-SP500 500W PSU
- 1 intake fan at the front, 1 intake on the sidepanel and 1 blowing hot air out at the back.

I'm very impressed with the cooling capabilities with this NZXT 210 case with a total of 6 fan mounting points and place for 1x 240mm rad in the roof and 1x 240mm rad at the front if you remove the harddrive cage. I havent found that in similar priced cases before. Also I really like the white paint job on this case, its white all the way.

Noice sausage braid! ;P

Good looking little server comp!

Thanks mate :P Dat sausage got some nice braid to it lol.. Very pleased with looks of the lil server, but "I can't get no..... satisfaction" before I've got the harddrive cables hidden away. lol, Mick Jagger just got involved..

Nice server you got there. The only thing that bothers me is that stock cooler. But since its a server it doesn't really matter, but for me, I hate the plastic push pins of those coolers.

Thinkin about getting some western digital Red 3TB hard drives for the home backup pc. They should give me good reliability, performance and raid support.

Anyone got some experience with the WD Red hard drives?

Also, I have cleaned up my cablemanagement inside the case, looks better now I think.

Is that a hard drive on the roof of the case? :D But I like the cable management. As far as the reds go, they're not too bad, but a lot of people get the caviar greens cause they're relatively cheap, offer large capacity, and don't eat up a lot of power, since most home storage servers are idling most of the time.

Yeah only possible way for me to get a clean cable management atm, with the 3.5 inch drive mounted in the harddrive bay it would look like a mess. It's quiet a creative solution if you ask me, and the best solution to make the case look good from the inside and I have better cooling now with good airflow through out the case.

This is how It looked like before..

And that doesn't look nearly as good as it does now imo.

Those were some good parts to have lying around :p

They are old components from my main PC which has had a lot of upgrades lately, so the leftovers is in the home backup pc now. Also I got rid of all the mechanical harddrives inside my main PC and put them into the server. Now I only have 1 intel SSD inside my PC. lol
Intel Inside

Cheers!
