Thermaltake PSUs?

Hi guys! I'm new to not only to OC3D, but to pc building as well. I'm building a new budget gaming rig that will last. For my purposes, I'd be needing around 650-750 watts for my PSU, so I'm browsing my options.

I see Thermaltake PSUs for fair price, but a few of my friends who have built their own rigs say that Thermaltake has very shoddy PSUs. Is this true? I'm trying to spend no more than 65$ Canadian on a PSU at the moment, in order to make my rig fit my budget as a University student. Thermaltake seems to have the best prices for wattage, which is why I want to know if they are really as bad as they appear to be.

Also, I'm trying to buy a secondhand Corsair TX 750W Nonmodular power supply for $50. Would that be acceptable or is there a pandora's box that I'm opening by buying secondhand?

ONE LAST QUESTION is if this power supply would be a decent one if all else fails. Rosewill Stallion Series RD600

I know modular is the way to go for cable management, but I'm trying to save wherever I can without sacrificing performance too much, which is why modular or not doesn't really matter to me.

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($169.99 @ Microcenter)

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($28.61 @ Amazon)

Motherboard: MSI Z77A-GD55 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($137.86 @ Newegg)

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB ) DDR3-1600 Memory ($39.99 @ Newegg)

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($73.75 @ NCIX US)

Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($289.99 @ NCIX US)

Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($99.99 @ Amazon)

Power Supply: Rosewill 600W ATX12V Power Supply ($49.99 @ Amazon)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit) ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $980.16

There's my build, taken off of PCPartPicker.

I've heard bad things about Thermaltake in general, so I wouldn't get one of their PSU's. What are the full specs of the system you're trying to power so we can better help you?

Ok, looking at the build a 500 - 600W PSU would be sufficient. I don't know much about rosewill, so I would suggest something like a BeQuiet Pure Power L7.

P.S. It's not advisable to buy a second hand PSU.

Hmmm Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the BeQuiet Pure Power for sale here in Canada... Most likely because it's a UK Brand, I'm guessing. Any other budget PSU's worth mentioning? :x

Be sure to add the specs to this thread, dude. You can't expect everyone to check another thread to look for your specs so as to help you.

The Toughpower line is pretty solid but that's the only Thermaltake power supplies I'd consider.

I have a very short list for brands I'd buy a PSU from. Corsair being first, XFX, Antec and Seasonic being the main ones.

Thanks for all the inputs guys!

Heres a NEW TX750 V2 (semi modular i think) for $85 atm, $60 after rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021

And you can also get a 2tb version of that hard drive on newegg for $70 atm, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148834

:)

I tried clicking those links but for some reason it keeps redirecting me to the homepage of the Canadian Newegg... I have found a different supply that I might go for instead though. Corsair CX600. It's non-modular, but that's not a problem for me. 80+ certified which means it's efficient, I think. Price is decent, and I have $15 credit on newegg, so I could get the PSU for about $58. Would this be a better alternative?

Unfortunately, I couldn't click on those links, and when I switched it over to the Canadian site, it was a completely different price. At any rate, I was going to try for a TX750, but Newegg is selling the CX750 for $75 free shipping right now. I also have a 15 dollar gift card that I could use towards it. Would the CX 750 Be adequate enough for this? Price-wise it fits, but I'm not too sure about the stability.

Edit: Forgot to take a look, but it also comes with a $20 dollar rebate. That means that I'd be getting this for $43.74, essentially. GST Included.

Rosewill are a good company, they do more server stuff so they're not as well known and they're owned by newegg :p

Thats a good deal i would go for it :D

Alright, I have decided to go for the CX750 because of it's price and stability. Thanks to everyone for all the expert opinions and advice! Hopefully everything will go smoothly. :)
