Hello fellow Fractal Design owners.
I figured we should have a carved out place to discuss anything
Fractal Design case oriented, place your link to your build log or rig gallery.

Discussions on the uses, equipement needs and modification of the
Fractal Design Cases. To keep it tidy, please do not upload your complete
photo journals, but to link them to your OC3D photo album. This will keep
it enjoyable and easy to load for travelers on small band-widths.

We welcome all comers for advise on modifications that worked for your
applications for your FD cases.

Hopefully this can help other enthusiasts in deciding on a Fractal Design
case with a support community here on OC3D.

I own A Fractal Design Arc Midi

hello OC3D,
i own a Fractal Design Arc Midi PC case. actally three. after watching Tom's case review
coming from the 800D and CM690 this was the case for the family PC upgrade.

after receiving and building this case, it is a dream to build. easy access for an air-cooled
case or an all-in-one liquid cooler like the corsair H100, or a custom water-cooling loop
this case can do them all in a sleek, non-obstructive, mid-tower format. so much so
after my family build (buildlog here OC3D Album here) is completed i've have got some
crazy ideas that might fit alot of case users and possibly promote Fractal Design as well.
more on the up coming later.

i think this will be a great Fractal Design hangout for the decided and undecided for
a great PC case designer Fractal Design..

I too use a fractal arc midi,
i was a bit sceptical at first as it looked a bit boring, but after viewing ttl's review and being recommended it by petrolhead, i bought one and have never looked back.

above is the link to my short but sweet build log, hopefully it'll help potential buyers see what can be done in the case, without too much hassle

Ven,
Bankai looks great.. i to was taken back that a case mannie can create a simple design
and fit so many applications... i too am blown away!
ive got so many ideas running inside my noodle of how i can "improve" how this case can stand-out
but that'll come out in a couple o'weeks.. i think it'll be stunning. i ran it up fractals flagpole
to ensure im not stepping over any releases or future anythings and got a green light, now
to secure the material(s)

Modern Modder Midi Window Mod

hello OC3D fractal peeps,

heres a mod i did today for less than one hour.
i cut a window in my arc midi side-panel. no waiting and it is more to my liking
than the scant reveal of production. enough of me, blabbering on.. lets see some
pictures....

from this boring lucid look...

..to this exciting view!

im pleased.. no waiting. just a jigsaw, 36tpi blade, flat and rounded files dremel,
cut-off disk(s) (8 total) and a dremel grinding disk. 45minutes later done!

i left the PSU covered as well as the optibays for those that like them hidden. my
next one, i might rip straight up the optis (possibly dropping the optibays). got the
plexi, just to late to install.
basically a 2.25" boarder, 8" x 4" (length x height) PSU and 6.25" x 4.75" (length x height)
plexi will be 16" x 14" rectangle held in with 3M 410 DS tape.

Anyone know where I can get a white side window in the UK. They do do one but I cant find one anywhere. Checked Aria, Ebuyer, Overclocker, Novatech all the usual suspects.

but that was a bit ago.. so i couldn't wait.. cut a hole in your panel. if you
goof, then get a window panel.. you tried! make it your build not a store bought.

Im scared. I would prefer to buy a panel then if I smash the window (which I have done in the past) then I still have my original.

Don't Be Scared...

then replace the smashed window with the window panel you created..
its not that hard.. really.

Count me in the Fractal Design club :)

Rig gallery is here, will post more pics soon.

Does anyone know when the official Fractal Arc Midi Window Panel is out in the UK? I heard it was the end of september, but i haven't seen any retailers with them in stock yet. :(

mmm, the ole end of XXXXX month trick!
PH, you are a modder, rip a gapping hole in the side-panel... sticky some plexi on it
and show us your skills!... LOLOL!! c'mon..
its been very tight-lipped on that release.. market pressure?!

I have a Core 3000 case, but the rig is not finished yet, still waiting for the bloody postman to deliver my Vengeance kits. Should've been with me on the 10th, hope it gets here this morning. After a spot of cable management I will post some shots. Nothing fancy, does the job. Case is good, save for a few thumbscrews that needed more than my thumb to screw in and out.

Here are two pics, one before the 7850 went in, one after. Obviously, cable management still needs some work, and I can't stress enough the need for a modular PSU. I was greedy, so I opted for a higher wattage rating normal PSU over a lower wattage modular one, and now I am paying the price. In all honesty, I chose the TX850 because I want a quiet PC and I am thinking a high wattage PSU that is only at around 50% load stays nice and quiet, also has a longer and less problem prone life. Anyway, pics...
P.S. Rig spec:
-FX 6100
-MSI 990FXA-GD65
-Sapphire HD 7850 OC 2GB (getting a little sister in January, as a birthday gift for myself)
-16 GB Vengeance 1600MHz CL9 Low Profile
-WD Green 500GB (to be followed in the near future by some sort of SSD)
-Fractal Design Core 3000
-Corsair TX850 V2
2nd P.S. Sorry about the picture quality, they are taken from facebook, which, as I noticed, butchers them in a very proper way.
