msi debug led !!

Hello guys !! I have an MSI z77a-gd65 and after shutting down the pc yesterday I can't boot into windows !! The debug led indicates the code 55 which means early memory initialisation !! Do you have any idea why this happened and how I can sort it out ???

Thanks in advance !!!

It would seem as though your memory isn't installed correctly. Try reseating the RAM.
If it doesn't work, try using the other set of DIMM slots.
Also try alternating which stick of RAM you use (try one at a time) to see if it's the RAM sticks at fault here.

This is the problem I have with my GD65, I get the same debug code and then it just resets and loops over and over. It's not my RAM because i'm using it now in another board, I have also tried different RAM and get the same thing. I can't even get into the BIOS because it doesn't even get as far as the POST.

Funny thing is though, it booted first time no probs but after restarting it hasn't worked since and I have a £150 paper weight.

reset cmos and reduce the ram timings, thats what i had to do
or eventually after 10-15 reboot cycles the cmos should give up trying and ask you to revert to stock

I know that it is not the ram !! I tried some older kits that I had here and the problem was still there !!! If you find anything let me know !! :-)

That was the 1st thing I tried and it didn't work at all !! -.-

I have tried everything, more than once :D

I'm unable to return the board as well because my friend bent the pins on the CPU socket, I bent them back but you can still tell they were bent. Thats not what is causing the issue though because I had it before that happened.

From trying to find a fix on Google, I have read of at least 3 other people having the same problem. So it's not a unique problem, as it seems several of the same boards are having the same problems. Iv'e had mine since a couple of days after they were released and I haven't found a fix for it yet, I don't think I ever will TBH. :(

This is really annoying !!! Msi is supposed to produce reliable boards !!! -.- Probably i'm going to rma it if I can't find a solution !!

I seem to be having a similar issue with a g45 board
i keep getting BSOD and i the only thing that has made me slightly stable is changing my ram but even tho ive changed it after gaming for half hour or so i get a crash and bsod. ive tried everything, new PSU, different HDD/SSD removing GPU, fresh windows install different versions reseating, driver cache clearing everything... ive not even had chance to overclock my new CPU yet. i am currently talling to scan to try and get an rma

I already rmaed the board and now i'm waiting !!!

my situation has since got worse lol.
i moved my ram into slots 2+4 and i booted.. great
5 mins later black screen, fans sudden jump to full speed and sniff sniff whats that smell. ah i recognise that its the smell of burning processor. im fuming its my first intel build, i've waited ages and saved really hard and now i'm having to use an old phenom 9500. i hope for god sake either scan or MSI admit liabilty for this.

Oh unlucky man.

If you send the board back to scan, check the cpu socket has no bent pins, and take high definiton pictures and close ups of every area on the front and back of the board for reference. I've heard a lot of reports from scan where they've sent a
board back with a BIOS problem and it's coming back as having bent cpu pins that Scan will not honour the warranty for.

Just make sure it's absolutely not your fault, and prove that it isnt - also, dont tell scan you've taken the pictures. I'd quite like to know what happens.

Good luck

thanks for the heads up. ive taken about 20 pictures, up close in the box and anti static bag, up-close shots of the socket. i've up until now never had a problem with scan. but i've not heard from them in 5 days now after i had a massive go at them for recommending i still use the mobo after i told them about the problem
i may email MSI but i know exactly what they will say. that it is scans problem and something along the lines of they appriceiate me buying an MSI product and hope that i continue to choose MSI. well i must tell you i will be thinking twice from now on. even thought there twin frozer gtx's are the best on the market (IMO)

keep us up to date dude we really want to know what happens with your board !! i havve no news from my board yet ...the board now has gone from the shop i bought it to the msi factory !! if i have anything newer i'll inform you guys !!

I've not had any of these issues, but the placement of the led poster is a bit.. naff.

Can't see mine.

well i'e just gone out and bought myself a budget asus board to test my processor and hey presto its booted and now running windows, just got my RMA ref from scan, ill keep you all posted

i also bought an asus p8z77-m pro !! i absolutely love this board but the only annoying thing on it is that it has realtek lan instead of intel :/

i had to buy the LE version,
nothing wrong with it, i've just always had an sli board right the back since my 6800's, ah well i can't afford an sli setup at anyway.

the le is not a bad board by any means !! it packs all the great features that the bigger boards have in a more affortable price !! :)
