Hey people, I have a secondary rig sat around doing nothing, currently in pieces. It is the second rig in my sig. I understand I could start folding with it but, if I am to do that I would like to keep it as low-power as possible. The X3220 is the G0 stepping. I need a very basic graphics card for setting it all up to be able to attach a monitor (maybe a 5450?).

Now would I be better folding on CPU in Windows or some Linux based OS? NB. I can install Linux on my USB drive(8G, but I could do with advice on what version of linux.

I also need a small case that can fit an ATX board (XFX nForce 790i 3-way sli...quite rare as I was told).

Currently it has a 550w PSU with it. Should I stay with it, or go lower?

Give Ubuntu 12.04 a go, as its free or maybe Debian, again free, and take a look at the NZXT Source 210...

And since you have that 550w, i would stick to it
