Dvd problem
i just changed my dvd writer from some samsung to a sony cause the other one got the motor burnt, now it is just saying DVD- RAM and when i insert a disk nothing happens btw it is oem so i got no drivers with it. i think i need the drivers. one peculiarity is that when i right click eject it ejects but when i enter a disc it is as if nothing happens.help is appreciated.
I know that a DVD - RAM is the type of disc camcorders use but i dunno why it is named like that
the other drive DVD in the screen shoot is of a virtual drive

DVD-RAM is a type of DVD disc which holds about 9gb instead of the usual 4.7gb (i think)
it is normal for it to display like this, mine shows as dvd-rw drive.
when you insert a disc, you may not have autoplay turned on, either way can u access the disc by going to my computer and clicking the drive to explore its contents?
what disc are u trying to use? a dvd film disc? cd? data disc?

nope, dvd-ram is basicly one big "floppy" disc at the normal size.
the "9gb" you think about is dual layer dvd's.
dvd-ram was created to compete with dvd-rw discs and can be written over 100.000 times.

go into the device manager and delete the dvd drive and let windows rediscover it during bootup.
it should work just fine with no drivers.
or switch ide-connector.
sometimes windows cant handle hardware changes properly.
