Hello gais and gurls!

I just got a new computer and I ran into some problem when it comes to overclocking after I installed Win SP.1

I had an overclock on my i7 2600k to 4.5GHz at 1.375v on my Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P board.

But during the installation of the windows update I got a bluescreen during the reboot and when the installation was over my CPU had gone back to it's normal 3.4GHz and when I tried to get it to 4.5GHz it just resets back to 3.4GHz after the rebooting. The BIOS accepts the auto overclock the new Touch BIOS have at 4.2GHz, but I just cant get it back to 4.5GHz again.

And yes. The CPU was stable at 4.5GHz before the windows update.. Had run Prime95 for several hours without any errors etc.

Can this problem be solved by clearing CMOS or do you have any other suggestions?

I should add that I'm using Win 7 64bit and 8gigs of Corsair Vengeance at 1600MHz.

// Viktor

weird issue mate seems like the update maybe turned something on that uses processing power on bootup making it need more power. Thereby BSOD'n ya. Have ya tried upping the volts any to see if that helps ya back to 4.5??? kinda strange SP1 would do that but microshaft is good about stuff like this.

Atm I'm using the Touch BIOS own clocking which gives me a 4.2GHz overclock and that preset is at 1.35v. I cant even reach 4,3GHz with 1.375v so I dont think the voltage can help me reach the 4.5GHz mark again. It seems like something is blocking my own overclock :S

I even reached 4.7GHz with 1.375v but that wasent stable, but atleast it came up as 4.7GHz in the BIOS and not 3.4GHz as it does now.

Good morning!

Yeh I tried to reinstall it and now the whole Touch BIOS changed for me. I did mannage to get it to 4.5GHz now, but when I put some load on the CPU it just downclock itself to 4.2GHz again.. Allthough, the values in the auto overclocking feature in the BIOS have now changed from like "Fast - 3.7GHz (100x37)" "Turbo - 4.0GHz(100x40) and "Twin Turbo - 4.2GHz (100x42)" to "Fast - 3.88GHz (102x37)" "Turbo - 4.43GHz (42x103)" "Twin Turbo - 4.58GHz (44x104)".

Arent those Bus speeds a bit high seeing as I'm using a 2600k which should have their Bus speed at 100 and you shouldnt even touch the Bus speed?

Can the new auto overclocks damage the components in the rig or?
