so let me get this right if you run direct to sound card you cant use the 'Tactical Mixing Console' ?? or am i reading this inncorect ?

either via the USB Tactical Console or just running cables into your sound card

the tactical consol being the mixing console?

You are correct, if you connect it directly to your sound card you cannot use the mixing console. However the reason why this was done is that people buy very high end sound cards that have already a good mixing console included. Or the software that comes with the card gives you a good mixing console too.
