I know that you could flash the 6950 to 6970 when it was out. What about now ? Can a card bought in july still be flashed to 6970 ?

You can still flash them but on the older models they had two BIOS's so you could flash one and if anything went wrong you still had the other to fall back on.

If you flash the newer models and something goes wrong you are stuffed so it's not really worth it.

Hello there,

You can Flash only Certain models of the 6950, The orignal model is the Rev 1.0 model and has all the full Shaders to unlock, Most of the new 6950's on the market new do not have all the shaders, And there for won't unlock, Some of the 6950's do have Duel bio's switch next to the Crossfire bridge, So if you was to try the flash and it did indeed fail you could just switch to the other Bio's and then flash the 6950 back into the Orignal bio's or boot up using the 2nd Bio's Which will have the original Bio's version still, This feature was main us however is incase Bio's 1 gets corrupted You can switch to Bio's profile 2 without having to RMA.

Natty.
