what do i need and can i watch films from my pc on the xboz in another room using system link?

i dont have windows media player but the abox has media player installed
is it not ethernet from the pc to the xbox? or could i use USB

If you use something like TVersity you can steam it to ya Xbox wirelessly, thats what I do or my PS3

Aslong as its on the same network as the machine your trying to play from or you have it hooked up via an ethernet cable directly it should work fine.

There your 3 choices for it anyway, need atleast one on the machine with the stuff you trying to play then just google a guide on how to set it up, its fairly straight forward, XBMC has a guide iirc aswell.

so i need the internet then i thought i could just wire my pc to my xbox and then use the windows media player on the xbox to watch the content?

Yeah so long as they're on the same network and you have set up the xbox as an extension in media center or allowed media sharing to it through media player. Depending on what you have available/how you want to do it.
