Manufacturers are going to be very open to doing this as at the end of the day, Intel are going to have to fit the bill.

I've seen estimates on how much Intel are facing themselves for the recall, but it doesn't factor the knockon from other companies.

It is a small issue. Further estimates of 5% sold mobos being effected, which I'd estimate only a small proportion of that 5% would be really hampered. But customers will no doubt put every possible issue they get down to the chipset and opt to return the mobos out of hand. I can see already the majority of forum posts where someone has a seperate issue to this being accredited to the chipset.

Be interesting to see how it effects figures in the aftermath.
