Could I please ask guys that are going to make suggestion to put what number problem they addressing so I can keep track

I am Going to list all my problems and address them one by one:

1) 6gb of RAM installed but only detecting 4gb (attached a picture of my CPU socket encase of bent pins)

2) What are the max voltages I should use and by how long will this decrease the life of my components?

3) Could someone explain the effects of running the PCIE lane faster than 100

4) What temps should I get at stock settings with my Water cooling loop? (ambient 26C-32C)

5) What is the highest voltage for a Asus 5870 V@ for 24/7?

6) How to determine if I have mounted my EK HF Supreme properly

I'm am sure that some of the suggestions that are going to be made I would have tried but I am more than willing to try them again

I will edit this thread if there are any more issues that I need to be answered

Pic of CPU Socket:

Really big thanks guys

I can only help you with 1 and 6, maybe

Is this in the BIOS or in Windows? If it's in Windows are you using 32bit? If yes, you need 64bit in order to run more than 4gb. Sorry if you are not a noob and understand this already, I don't know how much you know.

If it's in the BIOS I don't know what could be causing that, maybe something to do with the bent pin!?!?!?

It should rest flat on the CPU and be screwed down tight, not to tight thou, just so it's pressing down firmly on the CPU.

You should also be able to tell by your temps if it's mounted properly, I don't know what the average temps are for water cooling, but if they seem too high it's more than likely you haven't fitted it properly.

That's all i've got, sorry if this didn't help

1. Try mounting each stick individually in the board and see if it will POST. If all the RAM sticks are good, then it is possible that the bent pin may be a cause, or maybe you have a bad DIMM socket on the motherboard.

What speed are you looking to overclock to? I have a 920 in my system as well, at 4.2ghz with 1.35 volts it gets warm, but I'm only using a Corsair H50. Under load it gets in the range of 80-85C so I tend to kick it back a notch to around 3.7ghz with 1.27 volts. Higher volts will shorten the life of components, but I'm unable to put a number to how much it will.

Hi There

Thanks for the responses so far,

1) Okay first off I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and sometimes I detect 6gig but other I detect 4gig. The fix that works for most people is resetting the CPU socket and/or a bent pin that needs to bent back.

I have also tried to see if it is a cold boot issue and it is not (I ran prime and LinX and then did a reboot and nothing, but 2 reboot later I got 6gb again and then nothing the next time

I have got a friend that has a nice big magnifying glass that I can borrow and I will take some pics and try and bend pin again

I will also try each stick of RAM one by one to see if the system picks up all 2gig sticks

I put a pic in there to show you guys what pic was bent (in my eye) and I bent it back. Can you tell me if that pin touches the IMC on the CPU and if it is still bent?

2) With my Water cooling I get a delta T of about 10C at stock settings and of about 22C at 4ghz. If I relate that to overall temps I am talking about 40C at stock and about 53C at 4Ghz with 1.25vcore

I am also using mx-2 at the moment because I am waiting for my AS5 to arrive and I am running my fans on my radiator at 60%

Once again thanks guys,

Mikrouwel

those temps are well within range. if you are not getting above 60C you have no worries. i would not recommend bending the pin anymore. the more you touch it, the more likely it is to break. if you are not having problems with the CPU I would stay away from those pins.
