Well I have been researching for a few weeks and decided to with the following. I just wanted to run the components by everyone and get your thoughts. I hope this is the right section for this and if not I'm sorry.

Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz

Asus Sabertooth x58 Motherboard

Mushkin Enhanced Redline 6GB (3 x 2G 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 998805

Mushkin Enhanced Callisto 60gb SSD (for windows and maybe a few games)

WD Cavier black 1tb (for everything else)

CPU Cooler- Noctua NH-D14

Now is where I am kind of stuck.

PSU- Any suggestions? I know the corsair has great reviews but I'm kind of mad at them at the moment. I was thinking about the SeaSonic X750 Gold rated.

Case- I want something with awesome air flow but i don't want something that looks cheap. I just want a plain good quality full tower case. I was thinking maybe lian li but I'm unsure of which model (budget $200.00). I love my 800d honestly, everything but the temps. I still haven't added/upgraded all my fans and after adding up the cost for a good WC set up I said f*** it.

Video card- I'm waiting on the 6970 but I don't know how much longer my 8800gt is going to last. The prices of the 5870 are dropping a lot in price, there's one on newegg for $299.99 right now and it's very tempting. I'm just wondering how much better the 6970 is going to be, going by the 6870 reviews you would think/hope the 6970 is going to be a complete monster!

Thanks,

Brandon

I like Corsair PSUs. I'd pick up at least a 850. Modular is your friend!

I'd also still suggest going GTX 460s unless you are dead set on getting one card.

Reports mean nothing without an independent verification.

Go with Corsair for the PSU, you won't be disappointed.

As for the case, have you looked at the CoolerMaster 690 II Advanced? It's well under your budget and is a great case IMO. Well laid out. The front is kind of plain though. Another budget case I like is the HAF 912. It's very cheap, but has a surprisingly good build quality. I just used this case for a build for a friend. Nothing else touches it at this price range.

As far as video card goes, all you can do is wait. There are also rumors of nVidia announcing/releasing the GTX580. I don't really expect that until late Q4 or Q1 at the earliest though.

The 470 is also a steal right now. I upgraded from an 8800GT last spring to the 470 and couldn't be happier. I was torn between the 5850, 5870, and GTX470 at the time, but folding swayed my decision.

People might bite at me for suggesting it but the Antec 300 is a good case if you but the 2 or 3 extra 120mm fans to fill the free spots I used this in most my customer builds, main point it was easy to clean and simple case but still a good build quality. Brought 2 yesterday as well but hadent for sme time but WOW they are cheap as chips now for a nothing special but good solid case.

Bit of a favorite for modders because its plain and can do a lot to it, from a simple window to covering the whole thing in pick fur

The 300 is a terrible cheap and nasty American loved case, go straight to the forum nurse and have your brain checked

What Im personally saying as a proper modder is avoid that case and anything Antec like the bubonic plague.

psu could go for nzxt hale90 850w if you didn't like the corsair option

and for the case i say the nzxt phantom but thats just cause i like them

if your into ati/amd i would personally wait for the 6970 to come out and see what they are like but if not go for a 460
