Don't know how many will be interested in this, but figured I'd post it up anyway.

I bought an E8600 about a year ago for a bargain price. I wasn't sure what I was getting as it came from a phase change user who could have knackered out the CPU but got it anyway.

This CPU had a really low VID of 1.1625 which is impressive for an E8600. It would run at less than stock voltage at something like 1.11 overclocked to 4GHz but it would run pretty hot as per the small log in this thread.

Anyway, I got it in the end to just under 5GHz because the motherboard I was using really didn't like my memory much and was quite fussy I couldn't quite hit the 5GHz on water. I then clocked it back down to 4GHz and ran it on that for the last 10 months or so.

I got a bit bored of it and decided to sell it as I wanted a quad core again and bought the i5 760 (really great clocker again) so listed it on eBay. I didn't hide it had been overclocked and instead, played to its really low VID as per this auction.

Sent it off to Greece on Thursday and received this link in an email from the buyer saying thanks for the CPU... HWBOT Score 6.35GHz... Nice!

He says as that score was aimed for the graphics card, the CPU probably has more to give at 1.85v. I'm just really happy it went to an extreme clocker who will get the most out of it and clock it to death. Really wanted to see how high it would go.

Just shy of 5 GHz....

Didn't really let it slip as I knew it was decent.. Got good money for it and it has gone to someone who can take it miles further than I could have without LN2.

Just running an i5 760 at 4.1GHz at 1.2v with my memory at 2.133Ghz

Tis nice and coooooool.

Will try and push it sometime when I get time.

Oh yeah and can a mod move the to the correct overclocking forum.... I accidentally put it in the GFX one instead of the CPU one.

I need to overclock my chip, really badly.

I am making a fan mod though, since the mosfets are exposed.
