I have a lanparty x38 mobo a 7900GS video card and a E8400 overclock to 1600fsb w/ a 1:1 ratio, mobo is capable of 1333 so i'm pushing its limit with a 500 watt power supply and also I have a 8 sata connector all filled up with hard drives the SB handles 6 sata and the j-micron have two.

Two of my hd that is on the SB indicates a SPIN RETRY COUNT. Now I searched the net and found out it could be the cause of weak power supply...

P.s. I also have a 4 120mm fan and a 90mm fan... running full blast!!!

Now the Question:

1. Now on bios there's a voltage selection for SB (1.20v to 2.50v) and NB (1.20v to 2.50v) Is it going to help if I up the voltage on SB. Maybe it will have enough juice and solve the problem or I need a new power supply?

2. well, I just bought a new gtx470 but haven't put it in just yet. Waiting on the 6 pin power extension. So things are not really looking great for the power supply. So do I have enough juice for all these hardware? Is 500 watt power supply enough to do a job? t.y. in advance !!!!

I appreciate your response but can you answer the question in order like 1 and then the 2... because right now I'm still running the 7900gs that require only 1 six pin but psu offer 2 six pin for sli

not sure about uppin the sb mate, but as for ur 470 its a very hungry card and that psu isnt what u would call a quality one so swap that for this but you can get away with anything from 650w+ from corsair

gtx470 consumes 362 watts at peak load the psu I have is capable of supplying 384 watts on +12 volt rail but is a duall rail 16 and 18 amp.. well the amp is not looking good but is capable of supplying the gtx470 when it comes on watts...

Bottom line I really don't want to replace my psu not unless I really need to. I build my own case and its going to be so hard to replace the psu.

here's the link photo of my system:

yeah ur definitely going to need to replace it mate amps are more important than watts i had a 700w psu that couldnt handle 2 gtx460's cause it had the same amps on both rails as u have, replaced it with a corsair with 70a on a single rail and i now have 3 460's and it doesnt even get warm at all

what u mean hard to replace? the psu u have and the new one ur needing are both standard atx forms so it will fit in its place

I'm thinking more of the SB voltage of not getting enough juice. But I look every where on the net and nobody seem to be talking about it. board can do 1333fsb but I pushed it all the way to 1600fsb does anybody knows what would be the correct voltage for SB (1.20 to 2.50)?

What make are the drives that give you this error? If they are Seagates, then your drives are buggered,as they are known for dying this way.

What voltages are you running?and what do you use to monitor them?
