Hardware Casualties Thread

Well after several days of banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why my display driver kept disappearing and why my rig was seemingly so unstable, I swapped out my trusty 8800 for my GTS250 and sure enough that's what it was. Looks like my 8800 was dying a slow painful death after some years of folding hard. It has now been retired.

Shame mate , now you can upgrade to a GTX460

EDIT nice reading you have the GTS250 in there...

No casualities of late, but early this year lost 2x 9800GX2'2, GTX280, and a couple of 9800GTX's. The common denominator on all the cards was EVGA

Almost lost my maximus formula a bit ago, luckily it somehow revived itself

I havent personally lost anything yet

altho i have had to deal with quite a few fudged hard drives as of late

I believe i have had 2/3 9800GTX die on me (RMA) memory that died on me (RMA) 2x PSU (both 900w's) but Coolermaster was the one to blame, POS PSU's...

I'm not on that boat

I lost a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB drive somewhere in Q1 me thinks, and in 2008 I lost an entire PC due to a bad PSU that fried everything -.-

And that's about it, I'm a young fellow that hasn't got a lot of money to spend, so I can't buy a lot of hardware.

My 8800GTS 320 Mb also died on me. A load of red dots were displayed all over the screen, including the loading/bios screens, then couldn't load into windows. Only had it for 14 months as well (2 months outside the warranty), shoulda worked it harder to make it break within 12 months!

I now too fall into this catagory after a major catastrophic event took place about an hour a go My folding production is going to be down by massive amounts guys and gals

MSI TWIN FROZR II GOLDEN EDITION

This morning I came into my room and found my PC off which I find rather odd considering it's on 24/7.

To find it not able to power on.

Check the cords all seem fine, switch outlet's nothing.

pull all but 1 stick of ram push power lights come on and than fire coming out of the fan vent on the pcb side of the graphics card pretty much wanted to cry.

All i have is a video from my iphone which goes dark when i see the fire cuz i dropped the phone i was expecting maybe my HX750 to be the culprit.

Yea I ordered it July 31st 3yr through MSI but its been a few days over 30 from NCIX and Linus the guy who flashed them at NCIX to GTX 470 is on it and will contact MSI Tomorrow to see what will happen.
