Which brands make reliable PSUs?

Hey,

I really don't want to skimp at this, but I still don't want to pay an arm and a leg, but I'm not exactly sure where the line lies there. What are the main reliable PSU manufacturers (and/or specific models), and which are ones to look out for?

I'm looking for a 450-500W one. I don't quite need that much, but I want to leave a decent amount of space to upgrade, and I'll probably need it to last several years (starting uni this year, so I'm going to be skint) so I don't want it to fail on me.

Thanks for your help,

InvertedOblivion

If its my own money it would be corsair everytime tbh. PCP&C are now owned by OCZ and the quality took a nose dive straight after and are pretty pants in relation to others now.

Always worth remembering enermax, coolermaster (they have new ones coming) and Be Quiet.

Anything else is meh.

Hi,

Thanks for the help. I've found two that look good:

http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...460-pcap-a3oem

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/190751

Do you think this will be high enough to easily handle an AMD 955, an MSI 970FX , an ATI 4770, and a couple of hard drives? I may want to overclock a bit at some point too. It would need to be able to take the fans too. I'm leaning towards the coolermaster one as my case is a coolermaster and then they'd match, but if that's pushing it a bit, then I will go for the other one (the online calculator (I think it's the one linked to here) says that will need around 375W (rough remembering), but I'm not sure how reliable that figure is.

Thanks again for the help

Budget - Silverpower

Cost - Corsair

To be fair tho, I've bought dozens of psus for projects over the years and it's been a very very long time since I've had an issue.

Last one was with pcp&c funnily enough. Wouldn't put me off using another one of theirs tho. You buy loads, you have to expect a certain failure rate (not really a failure, just not as much power on a rail as expected).
