Thinking Coolermaster 840

Hi Guys

If you have read any of my previous threads you know I have built a system for a friend in a TJ-07 case, but having trouble with airflow, GFX card seems to be getting very hot.

her system is the same as mine, appart from the case, anyway she is now thinking of changing the case to one with better airflow

Would you guys recommend the coolermaster 840, or any other case with ace airflow????

thanks

Hay

CM 840 is an extremely awesome case with plenty of airflow. There probably are a few other cases out there in the lower (non-alu) end of the market that offer slightly better airflow, but as far as premium cases go it has to be one of the best.

Before you fork out on a new case hayles try changing the TIM for MX2 or MX3. But the 840 wont give you any breathing problems.

what on the GFX 295??????

TTL do you know of a lazer cutter in the bournemouth / poole area, as the 840 doesn't come with a window :(

also what model was your monitor in the GFX video's (Sorry off case topic)

Also the Coolermaster 840 I will be able to mount the Corsair H50 in the rear of the case, and hopefully having push/pull (is the rear fan intake????)

You can post me the panel Hayles Ill cut it. and yeah the H50 will work better in the 840, in the back OUT of the roof.

I'd say either a 840 or a Haf 922/932.

The Haf (High Airflow) should have better airflow, they have a side 200mm fan for cooling the Graphics Card, top 200mm exhaust, 200mm intake and a 120mm exhaust at the back. Though with the 922, you'll have to buy the sidefan separately, and the looks of the Haf series might not appeal to everyone. One shortcoming with the Hafs is that they don't come with dust filters, the 922 only has a front filter and the 932 doesn't have any. They are also a bit cheaper than the 840.

The 840 is stylish and looks like an awesome premium case to me. Cooling should be close to the Haf, it has 1 extra huge fan for top exhaust in exchange for the lack of a huge sidefan.

Though, if the GFX card is the main problem, having a sidefan might be better.

Thanks TTL I will do that

I have the side panel off the TJ-07 and the GFX card is still running at 66 degrees. (could there be something wrong with the card) although it has been fine in the past. Side panel has been off all day

The CPU has now been OC to 4ghx would this effect the GFX card aswell, making the temps higher than normal????

1 GFX core is running at 62/3 degrees the other is running at 65/6 degrees

Yeah just shout and we can sort something out Hayles. CPU should not effect the gpu temps that much, is 62/66 idle?

Id whip that block off first and change the tim, you have also not stated what the fan is doing......?

62/66 is idle (just doing web stuff & messenger) I have set up a few Fan profiles, if the temp reaches 66 the fan go up to 60% otherwise its at 40%

And at the moment the fan is speeding up every 2 minutes or so, as soon as the core reaches 66 it speeds to 60%

CPU is running at about, see below:- (its OC to 4ghz, i'm thinking that seems about right???)

Is it easy to change the TIM on the block??? easy to take appart???

Just screws, its a doddle imho, what do the temps do if you game @ 50% hayles? I think the TIM might help though.

I played COD for about 2 minutes yesterday the temps went over 90 degrees.

The pic I have just posted is with the saide panel off, has been off all day.

Do CPU temps look ok for being OC to 4ghz

TTL I am coming over to the IOW to see my dad (lives at wooten bridge) maybe I can drop the panel off to you, will be the weekend of the 6th Feb

I made error in previous post, when temp reaches 66 degree fan speeds up to 80% is doing this every few minutes

Card does sound hot, do the tim and then post back.

I may be moving but I can deffo meet you and get the panel. PM me so we can work out a design & prices.

I will try and do the TIM tomorrow, its easy right??? the card is Double PCB

I'll PM you about the panel in next few days - cheers dude

See if you can find some really fine lubrication paper for the heat sink too. Just get it down as smooth as possible. And as I said before, clean out the fan really well as dust can hamper airflow greatly.

The HDD always seem to stay at that temp...

I have order some MX-3 so when that comes i'll attempt taking the card appart, I have to say i'll be a little nervous LOL

It's really simple. First the huge plastic cover comes off, locate the screws for that and take them all out, you might need to unscrew some from the back plate cover too. Put them in a small pot and label them so you know which ones they are and you don't lose them. Then do the same for the heat sink. Once it is off it is even easier to put it back on.
