Need help choosing a GPU any ideas please.

Hi all,

Been away for a while but i finally got my rig up and running and for the most part its a beauty.

However i need to get a new GPU to keep up to date with the times and to get rid of my old 8800GS

I was going to get the AIT HD 5770 from amazon for £137 http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...A17AS5ETPMZ9A1

Not sure if its worth the cash but it is in my £150 price range.

Could someone take a peek and see what they think or suggest an alternative please, i would like to have dx11 so i know that i will probably have to go with ATI seeing as Nvidia is lagging in this department at the moment.

Nvidia Geforce 8800GS 384MB ddr3 ram

Arctic freezer pro cooling on CPU

Stock cooling on stock bog standard case

550 Watt g7 Power supply

x2 500gig internal hdds HItachi and maxtor.

That or a 5770. Any of those cards will perform just fine.

Thanks Guys, but i dont want a dx10 card, i could do with an ATI card as i said in my thread, i wasn't sure if the HD 5770 was the best for my money for sub £150?? Maybe it is.

Have you considered speeding just a little bit more and going for the 5850, the 5850 would be able to handle any game at high settings without a problem. Or wait a month or 2 see if the price goes down a bit.

I would definitely go for the 5850

5850 If you can stretch it. Would probably be worth the extra for you, but the 5770 isn't too shabby either.

Yeah. When gaming at 22" or more 5850 is the way to go

Thanks for all your responses but the 5850 is just waaay too expensive, I tried on Amazon and it was like £230 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-HD5...4432019&sr=8-1

I don't want to be blasting that much on a card just yet, I can hear u tho and i would probably want the better card in the long run but it's just a little out of my budget.

It's not a little bit more, by my reckoning its nearly £100!! not pocket change to me that, if i was to go with an expensive card it would be the newest ATI, but like i said i just don't have that kinda money.
