Need some help choosing graphics cards!

hi guys,

need some serious help picking graphics cards.

a while ago i got two xfx 8800gt 670m to run in sli,

one of them is faulty and after my warranty period lapsed i contacted xfx

who said i could upgrade the faulty one for either the 8800gtx for 40 quid or the gtx280 for 150 quid,

what i am asking is do you think is a better option?

get the 8800gtx to run in sli with my current 8800gt 670m

or to sell the other 8800gt to buy the gtx280?

8800gtx + 8800gt 670m sli?

or

gtx 280?

both will leave me with about 40 quid to pay so the prices are equal although getting the 8800gtx will be easier as i wont have to sell the other card.

can anyone recommend which is a better option?

regards,

jules

really? I have been told by xfx (the people who made both cards) that they are compatible, they are the ones who would be supplying the new card.

I will have to double check, as that would be a nasty mistake to make!

Not compatible for SLI.

You need the cards to of the model- only exception if you had the same architecture but different naming. For instance if you had a GTS 250 and wanted SLI you could grab a 9800GTX+ and flash the BIOS to that of a GTS 250.

If XFX told you otherwise then they must have put you through to their special needs equal opportunity hire.
