Right guys Ive been struggling with storage for a while, and thanks to Jim what started off as new hard drives has turned into a full on project!
I was going to buy a cheap raid card, but that all went to the wall and now Ive got a HP P600 SAS/SATA 8 lane raid card with 512mb cache and battery back up! A decent raid card was needed as Im going to be running 8x Samsung spinpoint F1 - 1tb drives in a raid 6 config (like raid 5 but 2 drives parity)
This is pcix64 fitment, and although it will work in a normal pci32 I wanted the bandwidth so a new mobo was needed. For temps if nothing else Ive recently become a fan of AMD, the Asus M3N Workstation motherboard ticked all the boxes so this was purchaced
In this I will be using my phenom 9850X4 and 8gb of OCZ Reaper 1000mhz!

As you can see in that video HDD space is an issue. In the end Ive gone for lian li cages because of the damping on the cages.
So I stripped the front of the case out....
The lian li cages are quite easy to tower up. Just a case of switching some tabs round and drilling some new mount holes.
Ive got to literaly dismantle the whole case now to measure up the front panel for the adapter plate Im going to be making for the 120mm fan conversion.
I still need a name for this puppy, it needs to relate to the fact its going to be white and have mega storage WITHOUT having white in the name really.
tinytomlogan OUT!:P made me giggle, you could say if your ripping the cages out of another haf you may ruin its beauty:P , taking that into account i would use the lian li's
