That is nuts!!! i mean how much money does it cost to fund these projects!
I like this sentence:
This is the same fusion energy process that makes stars shine and provides the life-giving energy of the sun!
i mean they could create a black hole or even a new sun! i mean are they actually makin this as hot as the sun because that could cause the particles to burn all its surroundings and that will start burnin more and that will start burnin more particles and more and more etc... until the whole planet is burned into a big blob and we have a new sun! (must lay off the hard stuff)!
its just i think there is certain things in life that have never been explored before, that might have extreme consiquences and who are these people to decide our fate! we all walk on this planet and most have children who walk on this planet too!!

I am extremely interested in this if it is possible to create a Fusion reaction, the world will have an almost unlimited supply of Energy. The ability to control the reaction, unlike Fission (standard nuclear power) gives an untold number of benefits.
The ability to have a nuclear reaction that comes from water and only gives out Helium, albeit as alpha radiation, it is less radioactive then most of the Depleted Uranium that comes out of the Fission reactors. This is going to be a huge step forward in Nuclear Physics (if it works...) and if not. While we have a new defence system to kill the aliens with :P

Yes that was a fusion reaction but unlike in spider man it can be stopped it does not grow exponentially.

I take it you disagreed with the LHC too?
Yes it could kill us all, but not at the scale that that they are talking about. Things like this need to be tried, they did not know if the first H-Bomb would use up all the oxygen, they still let it go off. Unless we try something that is dangerous technology will not go forward.
FYI: I believe that nuclear is the way to go, fission for now but fusion reactors are going to be developed or we are all going to become green, glowing, three-eyed creatures

Look at this from a different perspective,
imagine a new fuel source becomes available, no pollutants, totally renewable etc..
Global economic implications? ( No need to drill for oil, gas. )
Who would own the technology? ( The Goverment? Taxes etc.. )
Another one to ponder...
You found the key to creating a new renewable unlimited energy supply,
What would you do with it?
