Project: Qube³

This is my new project built around the monster of a case, the MM U2-UFO. It has been powder coated Candy Purple, with the grilles, motherboard tray and 5 1/4" bays painted gloss white. Here's the full specifications of the build:

Main Components (already have):

Watercooling Equipment (to buy):

• 1/2" tubing
  
• Ordered 6x Nexus Real silent 120mm Fans for front & top. Need another 3 for rear, going to use fans with leds for these.
  

CPU loop:

• ThermoChill PA120.2 - 240 Radiator
  
• 12V Laing DDC-1T Ultra w/XSPC V3 Acrylic Pump Top
  
• EK Multioption RES 100 Rev2
  
• Aqua Computer Cuplex HD 1366 waterblock
  

GPU Loop:

• ThermoChill PA120.3 - 360 Radiator
  
• 12V Laing DDC-1T Ultra w/XSPC V3 Acrylic Pump Top
  
• EK-FC280 280GTX SLI - Plexi waterblock
  
• XSPC Dual Bay Reservoir - Clear
  

As I have still to buy the watercooling equipment, I expect the project to take a month or so to complete. I only took delivery of the case today, and I won't be building in it till I have everything I need. I am tempted to get the fans and run the rig on air cooling though

I think the purple and white theme look pretty good, and it will be mirrored in the choice of fans, lighting and tubing. I can't wait to get going on this project, I have been dying to get my hands on a Mountain Mods case for a while now.

The project is currently at a standstill until I order the wc gear. So I decided to get some of the simple jobs out of the way, starting with the DVD RW. as it has a black bezel, it would stand out like the pope in a knocking shop in the case. So I was going to paint it gloss white so it would match the overall theme. I stripped the bezel off and got it all ready to spray, but I have run out of paint, so I am gonna have a trip to our local car parts shop later and stock up. Here's what's being painted:



I will post the pic when I get the painting finished.

I am going to be braiding all the cables that need doing in black and will be starting that soon too. I wanted to do white braiding, but with the modular PSU leads, it would look daft imo. Here's a pic of the psu cables, they wouldn't be any good for braiding as they are flat ribbon type cables.:



I want to get as many little jobs as I can done before the wc gear is here. Then I can crack on with planning out the loops.

I have decided on which fan controller to use for the build, and it will be the Sunbeam Rheostat.



It looks OK, but I will be spraying the bezel and dials gloss white, so it also keeps inline with the colour scheme. I like this controller because it has 4 channels, capable of handling 20w per channel. So I should be fine to run all the fans (9x 120mm) off the one controller. The LED's are supposed to be blindingly bright, so I will be fixing that too.
