Beast of a machine!!

today while sitting at work doing the usual stuff.... i got involved with a build of a BEAST!

spec...

Intel Quadcore i7 965 Extreme 3.2Ghz CPU 8mb cache

Some insane gigabyte x58-extreme motherboard

x2 Raddy (dual GPU) 4870 GFX cards crossfire

6GB of DDR3 OCZ Reaper X

Thermaltake 1kw PSU

gorgeous antec case

not sure what size but it had a solid state drive for the OS

a WD Raptor 160GB for the programs etc

3dmark 06 score 22k (did get a screenshot but never actually brought it home)

all in all... quite a beast!!!

monster

just thought id share it with you!

GPU's are most likely the 4870 in crossfire, the motherboard looks like the x58-extreme. One thing though... Why on EARTH a stock intel cooler? I can already hear that cpu begging for a 4gHz+ overclock.

Think they look like 4870X2's, pretty sure they are!

Yep you're right I was looking at a closeup. The more general picture showed the second power connector to each card

its a local IT shop near me called Delta Nine IT, tbh we don't get these machines in often, this is probably the highest spec machine we've had, its lightning quick! and the FPS in games WHOO!!!

serious bit of kit! and serious amount of cash, you should see the total build cost

That's the Extreme Edition cooler, from what I've heard they offer a fair bit over stock, pretty good stopgap between that and an aftermarket solution. Looks like a pretty decent, need to drill a hole for that 4Pin though, something I need to get round to in my 900.
