Optiarc DVD RW AD-7173A ATA (Vista Problems)

Hi, I have this device as my only optical drive. After installing Vista Ultimate(32), I am no longer able to burn CD's or DVD's, and reading media takes ages. It took me about 4 hours to install Vista on a formatted 500GB HDD.

Anyone know how to fix this problem ?

How are all ur drives connected ?

The DVD burner is IDE and the HDD is Sata

***Final Update***

Forget everything I've said so far, I'm a noob !

Bottom line, primary IDE controller had damaged pins, back of disc drive had bent pins.

Swapped to secondary IDE controller and straightened out pins at back of drive, (alakazam) it all works !!!
