Prepare for AMD's return to form.

4Ghz+ on air/water? No problem.

5Ghz+ on Phase/Dry Ice? Piece of cake.

6Ghz+ on LN2? Time to party.

AMD shook nVidia with the 4800's, anyone see a repeat with Intel here?

Hmm time for some reading

Although AMD would have to get out some serious performance to beat the current i7's. The 920s can be clocked to 3.5 gHz almost without a problem sometimes even below their stock 1.18V. And the i7 has a scarily high memory bandwidth.

IF this 4 gHz on air cooling isn't too difficult though, AMD could be in for some serious intel bashing if their pricing is all right. One of their main advantages is the reuse of old motherboards, which lowers the upgrade price dramatically.

One of the main thing AMD have going for them now is the fact that they're far more profitable thanks to the spin off.

Another thing I've been reading as of late is that The Foundry are already playing with 32nm chips...

If this is gonna be another athlon XP vs P4 situation, I'm so in! AMD are gonna have to get some serious bang for buck going again to win back the hearts and cash of enthusiasts though, with intel completely dominating the scene for the last year or so...

I have high hopes for AMD, as they're known for offering the more affordable solution. I hope we can see the return of something alike the Athlon X2 range (price/performance wise), but quicker.
