XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog fan noise !
Hi, I bought an XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog from Scan 2 months ago. I'm really not a gamer but I like to play every once in a while, when I did and played crysis for the first time putting some load on the graphics card, and it of course started to heat up, and the fan started to spin faster and here's where a very loud clicking noise started. After investigating I know for sure now that the noise is coming from the fan clicking against the surrounding heat vents. This only happens when there is some load on the gpu. I don't really know what to do, should I RMA ? btw does anyone know Scan's policy on swapping it with another card ?
Cheers.

Sounds like the fan is not balanced, so it wobbles on its pivet.
RMA it buddy.
I dont know about a step up program, i take it that is what you are implying, but if they have nothing similar in stock you may get lucky.

Does sound like the fan is either off or it`s clipping something.
Have a quick eyeball of it to see if it`s anything obvious u can perhaps solve (long shot).
If not, say pretty much what you`ve said here to Scan and they'll issue an rma I have no doubt. Go through their support thing on the website.
Often things start off abnormally like a clicking and tend to grow into something else.
The one I have just does the pulsing of speed at high temps when it`s on normal driver settings, definately no clicking.

QFT! There'd be nothing worse than to have that fan stop due to whatever is causing the clicking. Are there any visible scuff marks on the fan blades that you can see?

I've contacted Scan and they've issued an RMA number. But I can't send it to them right now, I have major work to do on the computer. Any suggestions ?
Thanx guys

Doesn`t the mail say something like "this rma expires in 7 days" or similar ?

It say's on the 28th of november, but then they sent me an email to confirm my address as the address to ship the replacement to. Are they going to send a replacement before I send my card ? I've contacted them about that but no one replied yet. I'm asking if anyone has an idea about Scan's way of doing things ?
