One case in the months that the 3G has been out. Hardly a problem, this can be classified as a random act of electronic suicide.

TBH i never charge anything overnight unless I have to. At a place I used to work, one of our engineers lost part of his house to a Dell power pack that caught fire over night when he was charging his laptop.

I have a tendancy to sleep with my phone on charge under my pillow (so I don't have to get out of bed to turn the alarm off), luckily its not a ***** iPhone!
I'd rather smother molten hot jam all over my testacles than own one.

Without knowing what sort of conditions the user has kept his stuff in and without further examination, it`s hard to tell if it`s `abuse` or "normal wear and tear". The latter would be down to Apple, the former down to the user.
We have had Dell incidents, mostly related to users jamming in USB stuff that the pc isn`t designed for and they shouldn`t be using. Not all pcs have a strong USB capability, particularly for new stuff. Normally the overloading of the power line for the usb rail. If ur lucky it`ll blow something, if ur not it`ll melt something.
Users aren`t always honest with u too, which is unfortunate - it`s not like we`re going to send them to the headmasters or something, and it`s not like we can single users out for damage - it just helps diagnosing things.

most phones if left on charge for a long period of time have a power cut feature, that stop the current charging the phone once the battery is full.
my W880i charges in about an hour an a half then goes cold again.
