XOBOX 360 Power Button

my 16month old can now turn on and off my XBOX

great you may think but when you are half way through a mission on GTA4 and he turns it off this is not so funny.

Is there any way I can disable the main power button and just use the hand controller to turn it on and off?

Apologies for the console question on a PC forum

Im not sure there is.

The front light and button section can be removed completely but A: I dont know if the console will boot then and B: would void the waranty taking the case apart.

Have you thought about just removing the button on the fascia?

well besides covering the button? hehe

i think your only chance might be in a modchip or something like that. maybe some of those have the functionality to disable buttons but i think thats a complicated solution to the problem lol.

It could be done. Is this a wireless controller or wired we're talking about? Does the XBOX 360 have a USB port? If so, a compatible Bluetooth adapter, the free GlovePIE program, and some time to tweak and customise settings could result in success. It will take some fiddling though.

Although the easiest way is to just cover the power button on the console and use the on/off button on the controller

Mod chips are pointless theres only the drive flash thats worth doing.

I think the easiest way is to rip the button from the fascia as the button underneath is tiny then you can just use the controller to turn it on and off

obviously I should have explained that you don't know my Wife....if she sees cardboard and sellotape in her, yer her, living room where one day the Queen or Brad Pitt may just visit, she will hit the roof and it will not get her on the front cover of Posh House magazine or whatever it is she reads

Maybe time to get some acrylic and get handy with a little 'gate' type mod or something...

Just wondered if there was an option to disable it like I've done on my PC which my son also used to enjoy turning off

Ok, the hand controller can be used to turn the console on by holding the "XBOX" logo down.

To disable the power button on the console, is to remove the front faceplate from the console. You can see there is a stud, to stop the power button working you can remove this stud....

As always, I dont accept responsibility for any damages etc etc etc

I'm not sure if this would work at all, but if the XBOX puts voltage through the switch, you could possibly slice one of the wires and put a capacitor in between.

Its a real long shot and you'd need to find out how much voltage is passing through etc. But you could get it to work on some kind of delay where you have to hold the switch in for 30 seconds (at which point the capacitor charges up and then discharges) to turn it off.

I'm no 'leccy boff tho.
