Help diagnose a potential problem - PSU connections

Hi All

I am not sure if i've run in to a problem.

I have a OCZ GameXstream 700w PSU. Here's the sticker with the details.



I have also just got myself a second 8800GTX to go SLI.

Unfortunately there are only two PCI-E sockets wired into the PSU and I need four.

The existing pci-e connectors are each on there own lead as you can see on the photo.

Would it be feasible to put another pci-e connector on each of these cables so that each cable runs one card?

I've also got some molex to 6pin adaptors. Would this be a safer route to take?

Final question - at the moment there are 3 Sata connectors on another cable. Would I be stretching my luck if I were to run 4sata hdd's and 1 sata dvd.rw off of the one cable?

Would appreciate your help. really hoping that I can do this coz i've just blown my budget and cannot afford a new psu at the mo.

I'd go the Molex-PCI-E route to be honest. Otherwise you _might_ draw too much power through those PCI-E cables and end up melting/fusing them together.

As for the SATA connectors, I think you should be OK. Hard Disks and DVD-RW's have fairly low power consumption in the grand scheme of things.

I'm thinking much the same. Counting up the connectors there are 14 molex/sata/fdd conectors in all so if If I hijack a couple of the molex lines i think I should be ok.

Yeah, atleast one of the cards should have some pcie-molex adaptors in the box. Just use those on their own channel if possible.

Drives "mainly" will max 25w writing, afaik.
