7800gt replacement

welll my trusty 7800gt is on its way to heaven,slowly but surely

so i will be in the market for a new gpu.

looking for something cheap,capable of 1680x1050 with high settings but still good fps.

css and photoshop is about as demanding as it gets round here these days tho,but you never know

i was thinking a 9600gt 512mb would do nicely,thoughts?

Yeah, the 9600 would do very nicely, the 8800gt is also worth a look

just took a look around for 8800gt 512mb's and it seems like one of those could be on the table,£100 with free p+p is pretty good,and tempting

didnt realise how cheaply you could pick them up for now

i`m using very often PS , more difference i felt in performance when i have changed my HDD drives , from single 7200 rpm to 2x raptor 10k raid 0 , about the card gf 8800 with g92 will be very nice, only bad thing is that those stock collers are getting hot as hell that sometimes lead to sys crash ;[ but anyway for 100 pound its a good deal. and what about radeon series , if you are using comp to 2d graphic they will be very good aswell and they are cheaper.

i did the same as you and went for an 8800gts a bit back i'd suggest the same to you for what you want to do/play stick with a cheap 88 series
