which 780i mobo is best suited for overclocking and SLI

i was sticking with a DFI LAN PARTY P35 board,until i read and obviously saw its not SLI compatible....so now im after a mobo that could overclock highly and is well recommended il be running a q9550 with 2x XFX9800gtx's, ddr2- 4 gb 8500 of crucial ballistix tracers,il jump to ddr3 if need be,cheers to all that can help.

Do you really really really want SLI? If you're after a dual-gpu setup, why not consider crossfire on a X38/X48 motherboard? Or as many people here will tell you, avoid multi-GPU setup's all together.

If you really do want SLI, how about the 790i? Something like the Asus Striker II?

so multi GPU setups arnt good?

if thats the case,il stick to my previous plan of one 9800gx2 and stick to my old motherboard i had planned the DFI Lan party perhaps?

oh and btw i was planning on liqiud cooling both the CPU and GPU'S but considering SLI isnt all that worth it i guess i can save some money,and stick to liquid cooling the GPU AND CPU on the DFI Lan party,that a better idea??

Just get a 9800GX2 which is a much better solution than 2x 9800GTX's and you will not be limited by your choice of motherboard. DFI boards atm are poorly supported in the watercooling market with mips (German) being the only one I know of who make chipset blocks for them unless you take a chance on a generic block such as the mcw30. If you arn't bothered about cooling your chipset then DFI's are great boards (at least they were under skt939) and are adequately cooled anyway.

The advantage that multi-GPU's give is quite often only seen in benchmarks (unless you happen to have a huge screen). Even then it's not really worth the extra money of another card. A DFI Lanparty + a 9800GTX or 9800GX2 and watercooling will be an awesome setup. Or if you can wait, see what the 99** series turns out like.

ye thanks for that,not to concerned about the Northbridge cooling atm,cpu blocks are universal right,so i could liquid cool it still? and liquid cool the GPU??

i wish i had the patience to waite lol...id rather build this sooner rather then later,when the new cards come out might indeed go buy one,thanks anyways dude

Yep. DFI boards come with decent NB cooling anyway, so you should be OK in that respect

Yeah, most CPU waterblocks come with the lga 775 fitment. I recommend the D-tek Fuzion or the EK supreme.
