New System - What Do You Think, Any Ideas???

Hi guys,

I'm new here and I'm already over whelmed with the amount of knowledge you guys have to offer. I'm looking at creating my second rig.

But this time i want it to be high performance, with good over clocking possibilities and Ive even been looking at doing my first water cooling set up at the same time. Ive created a rough parts list using OCUK but its theres any thing better i hope you guys can say.

NOTE: I am looking at the (Asus Striker II Extreme nVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLi Socket 775 Motherboard) but OCUK don't stock it so i user the ASUS Deluxe just for costing purposes.

Ive Uploaded a screen shot of my possible basket.

Thanks In Advanced...

It looks like a very shiny system.

As far as i can tell, you've got all the right parts, but i'm sure many people will point better quality/value parts out to you.

You may want to steer away from ocuk. Quite a few people have problems with their customer service and if you are buying thins much, the chances you'll need it go up considerably.

Oh, you'll probably need more than 1 metre of hose, but that's hardly gonna break the bank.

EDIT: and you might want some compression fittings. Lots of people's Water cooling doesn't leak, but with this much expensive stuff, it's better to be safe than sorry.

4meters of hose, in case it goes wrong

OCUK have been fine with me even now :P No shop is perfect.

Personally id go with 8800GTS 512's instead of GTX's. Not that far behind in performance but a heck of a lot cheaper.

Also has anyone had experience with the (Asus Striker II Extreme nVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLi Socket 775 Motherboard)?? Any Ideas about expected overclocking results?

Ok I assume that compression fitting are safe than the others? If so i will be using them.

I will also be posting a diagram of my water cooling setup to see what you guys think.

Also Does any one know what radiators will fit in the cosmos s case, I'm looking at a 3 fan radiator. I know it has a top compartment but is this where the fans go or the radiator?

Thanks Guys

I believe someone has that very case. Can't remember who though.

Also, the fans usually bolt straight on top of the radiator and the whole lot will go in the top compartment. - might be wrong though.

Just a note: If you are planning on SLI.. the board you have chosen in the icture won't SLI.. you need an Nforce chipset.

Oh, and I think the Raptor is crap... is it even SataII?

Go for something a little more practicle? Raptors just don't seem to show much difference.. or at least not enough to justify playing that much for them.

Looks like a nice setup, but as mentioned earlier, I'd go for the 8800GTS 512 (like me ) instead of the GTX, unless you're planning on running Tri-SLi in the future? And btw, what PSU are you going to use?

i was looking at the Coolermaster Real Power 1000w Modular Power Supply.

But really I'm looking for anything with enough power and modular connections. this isn't a full modular power supply as you cant remove the motherboard power but every thing else is removable. should help keep a tidy case.

EDIT: with reguards to the motherboard I'm going for the striker 2 which i thing supports triple sli, which would always be an option in the future.
