Little lost... help?

Ok, so I love to play MMORPGs and such and ive decided to upgrade my card. Ive been leaning towards the GeForce 8800 GTS(good idea or bad?).

Honestly I know nothing about computers, just how to play the games!

Is a good graphics card all I need to run my games smoothly on "high graphics"?

If not, what else do I need???

Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks

An 8800GT will be most likely more than you need if you only play MMORPGs, if not an HD3850. What is your screen resolution?

Some more PC specs may help too

Hi there.

Can you let me know the rest of your system specification?

A good graphics card is essention for smooth game playing, but the rest of your system needs to be up to the task too.

The 8800GTS (G92 - 512MB version) is indeed an adequete card for most gaming (perhaps excluding Crysis on Very High if you have a large panel).

I have the 8800GT which will run any game on my 1280*1024 19" Monitor, bar Crysis maxed out.

Nothing will play Crysis smooth on Very High, even at a lowish res.

But yes, specs etc are needed

Find a program called aida32, then you can run a report on your system, just attach the text/html file and we can decode it for you

http://www.tekweb.dk/download/utilit...32/default.php

Ed: Check the file before you upload it, as it can detect your windows/office install keys.

OK You have the following.

AMD XP3200+ (Stock)

Mosel 512MB DDR3200

Asus A7N8X Motherboard

nVidia 5700LE (256mb)

80GB HDD

Depending on what MMO you play a 8600GT/HD3850 should be more than enough power. Something else to look at upgrading is your system RAM. Most people advise at least 2GB nowa days, but as it is DDR3200 it is getting harder to find.

How much money do you have to spend? putting an 8800 in that system will require extra power, and tbh i doubt his PSU will be able to hack it

my friend has a similar set-up to you, except he has a 6800Gt. Is your board AGP or PCI-E?

If you have plenty of money im sure a whole new system wouldnt go a miss :P haha.
