First time lapping

Ok so I found an old 939 chip on a shelf in my sisters old room.. Think it was a 3200+ that I forgot I had.

Anyway decided to give lapping it a go just to see how it came out and here are the results:

(Pics not best as were taken on my phone)

I could do with some gel or paste to get the true flashy finish but this is pretty shiny none the less.

I'm considering trying my hand at it first with an old 939 just like that before I risk my quad.

funny enough,i just had my first go at lapping,also on a s939 opty,but i think i didnt do it right as theres no difference on mine,need to work out why......

anyway nice finish there mate

Nice finish you have there mate!

I first lapped on a Celeron, cut off a good 10oC, I was quite suprised.

It is hard work and I don't know that its worth voiding your warrant to do in a decent chip but yeah if you have a spare lying around give it a go

Checked its all nice and flat? I'd imagine so in which case I dunno.. Also thanks.

Cheers man. I can't test this as I haven't got a mobo it will fit in and I can't remember what temps it used to get.

As for the emails, well, all junk. Some from the game I'm beta testing and others from a stupid facebook style site someone has signed me up for but its a seedy version of it... Getting about 15 - 20 a day.. Should die down soon though.. If not I'll stop being lazy and try and get my email taken off it.
