Orange Peel...

I am going to make a new mod for OC3D. Kempez has been helping me with ideas and I think this one is gonna be really special.

Its gonna be a tower case with the hidden wiring (of course). I am thinking of making my own cooling blocks and incorporating the pump and res into the mobo tray.

Looks like for the exterior of the case a nice Yellow/Orange pearl with a CarbonFiber/Aramid interior.

What do you think, any ideas?...

Sounds great tbh, definitely looking forward to it. Interested to see what the pearl comes out looking like, and I sure as hell can't deny my love for carbon fiber, mod on my friend, mod on.

thanks guys..what do you think about the colors?

I have been playing with Black with blue pearl (under lighting the corners change from black to purp to blue) on the outside and Black/Gray Carbonfiber on the inside.

Or

Yellow with Orange pearl for the outside with the Yellow/Black Carbonfiber-Aramid composite on the inside.

I made these blocks for my 8600GTs but may go with a little more horsepower in the GPU dept this time.

This was my first try using acrylic

These are made from Delrin using Enzotech chipset coolers for the cores.

Thank you, I really liked the design as it was simple but had some very nice engineering points.

Like the first block, notice how the intake is angled towards the heatsink. The heatsink was cut to be in a D Shape to aid flow as well, It worked really well.

Those Enzotech coolers are a very good design.

Yes i spotted the angled connector on the first block and must say its pretty good idea!

Any chance of some close up pics of the blocks?

As for enzotech we like the look of them its just a shame the top they put on them were of such poor quality - 100% RMA rate

although they have solved this issue new with new stronger tops i still think your solution is much better :P

When I first saw the title I thought it was going to be about avoiding orange peel when painting. This is much better.

I can't wait to see the build. How do you think the blocks will work with the increased heat load on a more powerful gpu?

I think the NEW blocks will perform better than whats available..(lol, I hope)

I will definitely be building the new blocks specifically for the new GPU (s) I just dont know what I will be using.

Those blocks were designed for the 8600GTs (you could blow on the 8600 series to keep them cool)

One thing about custom builds is I dont have to make anything universal fit. It allows me to optimize the case to the hardware.
