suggestions please

ello people!

i'll go straight to the point....

my brother b-day is at the end of this month, im planning on building him a new PC, i gave him a 20.1'' LCD a few months ago cause i felt bad for him to use a 7yrs old 17'' CRT

now just need a better PC to go with it.

his current PC is a AMD 2100, with onboard GFX, 2.5G RAM, 40GB PATA drive.............. (i'll nick it off him and turn it into a media center ....but dont tell him that.....)

the budget is about 300quid, give or take a few.....

so far, i've looked at:-

Asus P5K-VM

C2D E4400

2GB of value rams

----adds up to about 200quid at this point----

need some kind of HDD....

i've got a 350w PSU somewhere, forgot the brand but it used to power a Pentium D805 + 7900GTO........his PC wont be clocked, maybe 350w will be enough? and using onboard GFX again.

i 'might' get him a new case, you know....go for the ''wow i got a new PC!!!11111'' effect, but have to see how much things cost.

his PC usage is very light, send a few emails, youtube, MSN, view photos and video taken from his cameras.

what you guys reckon? should i go for AMD stuff cause what i looked at is wasted on him?

If its not for heavy usage id go for the el-cheap-o parts. AMD stuff is stupidly cheap now, the list i picked out in some other thread would prob do.

He going to be using vista or XP?
