What did bill realise he was the richest guy on the planet and could be nice to his customers or is he just lookin for beta testers to iron out bugs <i think this is why>

I don't think it's to get people to 'iron out bugs', It's because he's decided to make your Windows XP 32-bit version not work and laugh at people who don't take notice of that and then try to activate their 32-bit version after they couldn't find drivers for 64-bit

or maybe it is to convince people to buy their windows xp legally, knwoing that they get a free upgrade to x64 aswell.

Ehhh... Its logged by windows, lol. Go to ur cp and open up the system panel, it gives it to u on the first tab.  youre welcome jimbo.

Make a tiny partition, install windows, dont do any updates, just go in and write down the number, then format the partition and delete it. Easy enough to get yourself a legal copy of x64
