Ok well i want to put that old 450watt Antec SP on my dads machine. When i had it, i thought it might be going out. Its giving a slight squeel sound when i turn the button on (In the back of the PSU). Idk what this is, and it only started doing that a couple of months ago. Also, i put a test system under this PSU (Mobo cpu and 1 120mm fan) and the 12v is putting out 12.34. I know that PSUs over volt a bit so when it takes a load it will be around normal for under load usage. My Ultra has my 12v under 12.16 and drops to 11.99 under load. On the Antec is this 12.34 safe and normal? Or should i not put his system under this PSU.

I had the exact same problem with my 450 SP, and I replaced it. It was at 12.4V, not great, but not critical yet. It also made the squealing noise. I replaced it with a 750W unit. Did you overload it in the past?

is the noise not coming from the fan?

if so, why not take it out and clean it up - or replace it!
