Time for the serious shiznat

K though my time wasnt what it used to be, (i've got alot less) I want to do this and do this right. Time for a new cascade, dual 1/3+hp matsuhitas, nice coaxial HX, homemod condenser, and a 60" flex line. Evaporator will probably be a runmc stepper.

Ive got it all on a 4' x 2' of MDF/hardyboard, but I'm going to build as small as possible then cut it down. Have fun with the pictures and if anyone wants more details please ask.

Refrigerant will be r507 for the high stage, and co2 mixed with propane for the low stage. Temps wont be great I dont beleive do to CO2 dry ice problems.

On to the picures I can only hope you love. :yumyum: And for all information a shameless plug, when I'm done I may just put this up for sale on the cheap. (Quite cheap.) And even better if I can manage to get ethylene. (then we're talking really cold).

I will finish the first stage pretty soon, just need to stop in and get some 1/4" pipe from homedepot.

for that much @ local refrigerant store around 250.... gj keep up the good work, nice heat exchanger btw, dont u put water in that thing?

The HX is a coaxial condenser, and yes they can be used as water condensers. This one is rated for either use really and should be large enough to handle the relatively small(er) compressors.

Okay along with the Evaporator, I'm deciding now on getting a different oil separator. In cascades the low stage needs to have its oil removed before it can get to the evaporator, or else it can begin to freeze or clog. Cheaper oil separators are not floated, and would have a hand valve that would be used everyonce in a while to dump the oil back to the compressor. This makes cascades not constantly usable. Good floated oil separators return the oil on there own, but are incredibly pricey. I just scooped a deal on some great ones though, floated and cheaper. Temprite 501A's. There much bigger, but will make this cascade possible for near 24/7.

Hmmm when? I didnt get more tube just yet to finish up the first, and my newest tool, a digital vacuum gauge to help with good vacuum is on the way. Once its done I've gotta drop some more money on the evap... A few more suprises though may go into the unit though...

One hint.

Constant Pressure Expansion Valve

K next time im in the shop (tomorrow afternoon possibly) I'll take some all around closeups! The condenser is an incredbily cleaned up transmission cooler rated for 500 psi and took quite a lot of work.
